Reza Khan, CEO
Reza Khan is Chief Executive Officer of EmergIn Risk and President and CEO of CorPro Underwriting Managers. Reza joined EmergIn Risk (then known as ThinkRisk Underwriting Agency) in September 2011 as Executive Vice President. EmergIn Risk specializes in errors and omissions (E&O) insurance in the areas of media, advertising, technology, privacy and network security for a wide variety of industries and insurance agents and brokers E&O. CorPro Underwriting Managers focuses on directors and officers (D&O) related coverages including EPLI, Fiduciary and Crime for not for profit and private companies.
Reza has over thirty years of experience in the insurance industry, primarily in the professional lines sector and began his career as an underwriter at American International Group in 1983. In 1985, he was recruited by the Berkley Group (an Aon Affinity company) to help launch national E&O programs for Accountants and Lawyers and went on to help build Berkley’s travel industry E&O program for travel agents, tour operators and cruise lines where he was Vice President of National Accounts. Following Aon’s acquisition of Berkley in 1995, Reza joined sister company Media/Professional Insurance (now known as Axis Pro) in 2001 as Senior Vice President of Business Development and led sales and marketing efforts targeting media, technology, insurance agents and miscellaneous E&O products in the U.S. and Canada.
In 2005, Reza was a founding member of Specialty Global (now part of Cap Specialty), an MGU specializing in miscellaneous, technology and travel agents E&O. He joined Darwin Professional Underwriters in 2006, where he held a number of executive positions and was instrumental in developing and distributing (i-bind)®, an industry leading web-based underwriting system with a professional lines products focus. Following Allied World’s (AWAC) acquisition of Darwin in 2008, Reza built and led Allied World’s national Business Development team and subsequently led the U.S. Program division.
Reza attended the College of Insurance in New York (now known as St. John’s University School of Risk Management) in 1982 for his Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) degree. He also earned the Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation in 1996 and maintains property and casualty broker related licenses throughout the U.S.
Fun Facts: Reza lives in Manhattan with his wife and two children. He learned to ride horses at a young age and enjoys following the thoroughbred horse racing industry. He often spends weekends at baseball tournaments cheering on his son or taking his daughter to gymnastic and guitar lessons.
